What Does Faith Say?

Jun 10, 2023

Faith has a voice.

Faith speaks in our memory—where recalling the goodness of God in our yesterdays becomes trust to continue to follow Him into our tomorrows. The voice of faith reminds us of the “God moments” in our past, when we see how He specifically acted, affected, and intervened at various points in our life story. It’s the “substance” (confidence) that gives reason to believe for “things hoped for.” (Hebrews 11:1) Reviewing our life history, in general, does not necessarily build our faith. But, our faith is established when we LOOK to see God’s undeniable presence and influence, again and again, throughout our life. He is real. He’s proven Himself to be REAL … to YOU. To ME.

How do we hear the voice of FAITH?

The voice of FAITH says: “Remember what you KNOW God has done for YOU.” Sins forgiven, sicknesses healed, fears relieved, hope restored, mercies granted, strongholds broken, doors opened, protection provided, prayers answered, lost things found, revelation shared, multiplied blessings of love, joy, peace … the more you look, the more you see; the more you see, the more you KNOW. Don’t focus on your past mistakes—release them! Let go of the “victim” in your past, and embrace the VICTORY! SURELY goodness and mercy has followed you ALL the days of your life! GOD was THERE with you all the time! Look for REAL evidence—not based on feelings, but on proven reality. It’s not nebulous. It’s already DONE in the unchangeable past. It’s what you KNOW of God and His goodness.

The testimony of others has great power to add to YOUR faith. Consider what you’ve heard and observed that GOD has done in the lives of OTHERS—your family and friends, stories read and heard from ancient times to the present—testimonies of healings, deliverance, and miracles. All these eyewitness accounts add to and lend substance to your own personal relationship with God. “Overcoming faith” is built “by the word of their testimony.” (Rev. 12:11 KJV)

God’s WORD is the voice of God preserved —about Himself. His nature, His faithfulness, His love, and His holiness. His character and commandments—His promises and plans. KNOW the WORD! Because ALL of it, every word of the WORD is profitable to build faith. It is pure TRUTH. “Add to your faith virtue; and to virtue KNOWLEDGE …” (2 Peter 1:5)

= THAT is your FAITH.

“Ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth … unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest KNOW that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him.” (Deuteronomy 4:32,35 KJV)

As you observe the collection of clear, substantive evidence of God’s faithfulness to YOU, do you doubt it? or does that evidence SPEAK to you? It should. Time cannot change the REALITY of God’s influence in your life. Separate out emotions, feelings, judgment, and assumptions—distill out what you feel at the moment from what YOU KNOW. Opinions change, but the FACT that you KNOW that God is GOOD and He is FAITHFUL does not. It’s undeniable. Proven. It is your FAITH, and it is a FACT. FAITH’s voice is GOD’S voice. Let IT speak.

FAITH declares:
GOD is GOOD and makes you GOOD.
GOD is always IN CONTROL.
GOD is the source of all STRENGTH.
GOD is the reason for HOPE.
GOD is the ONLY WAY to TRUTH and LIFE.

Apply your faith and make it real. God is FOR you—has always been WITH you—and will continue to be BESIDE you. You don’t have to recall a lifetime of “God moments” every time you need a little faith. Once you absolutely KNOW that God is faithful, the “voice of FAITH” will speak to you. Every time.

DO THIS: Whatever the situation is that you are facing, no matter how bleak or hopeless, get a piece of paper and write down what FAITH says to it. Look at the declarations listed above, and let what you KNOW about GOD inform what you believe about your situation. Give voice to faith’s declarations—say them OUT LOUD. When you profess with your mouth what you KNOW is true, whether you feel it to be true or not, your mind is convinced by the sound of your own voice. “Be still and KNOW that (He is) God” … and He is faithful. But, beware: FAITH isn’t having faith in your faith; it’s faith in GOD. It’s not WHAT you know, but WHOM.

FAITH says: “I KNOW WHOM I have believed, and am persuaded that HE IS ABLE …” (2 Tim. 1:12)

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, when I turn around and look at the “wake” of my past, I see YOU! I can see how You have been faithfully working in my life—all the way back to the Cross … and before! This I KNOW: my FAITH is settled, because I KNOW YOU. I can apply that FAITH to every situation I face today, and I can trust YOU that my HOPE for tomorrow is also secure. Thank You for this BLESSED ASSURANCE! In Jesus’ name, AMEN.
