Read On!

Mar 2, 2023

Today, March 2, is “Read Across America Day”! Who knew?! Readers, unite!! Here’s seven ways to celebrate!!

1. Revisit one or more of your favorite childhood books! What ignited a passion for reading as a child? (For me, Dr Seuss! Later, Nancy Drew!! 🔍)

2. Choose a good read-aloud to enjoy with your clan! How about a true life tale of triumph? like “The Boys in the Boat” by Daniel James Brown, or “Endurance-Shackleton’s Incredible Voyage” by Alfred Lansing.

3. Visit your local library! Tons of inspiration there!

4. Reread the first book you fell in love with. The Bible, of course. But, from classic literature, it’s “Jane Eyre” for me.

5. Check out book recommendations from friends who are avid readers like yourself. Non-fiction, fiction, biography, poetry … break out and find a new genre to enjoy!

6. Share a recent favorite with a friend! The joy of discovery multiplies when you share it! Better yet, do a book club!

7. Determine to find your own new favorite! Dip deeper into that stack of as-yet unread “favorites” on your desk or bedside table still waiting to be read! And loved! A NEW favorite awaits!
